From You Flowers Acquires Social Media Link
Back in 2009, Social Media Link started with a clear vision – to give consumers a positive outlet to share their opinions about brands, and for brand marketers to help promote their products in a real and authentic way.
When our company launched, Facebook was a mere five-year-old, Twitter was three and Instagram and Pinterest weren’t even words. Even in its early days social media’s influence was readily evident. Word-of-mouth has always been the most powerful driver when it comes to the brands and products we purchase. Today’s marketers know that traditional forms of advertising don’t work the way they used to. Plain and simple, we buy things that people recommend to us. Not only do more than 90% of people trust recommendations from people they know, but also 84% have reported that recommendations have prompted action and consumers are71% more likely to purchase based on social media referrals.
The advent of social media allows us to connect with people from around the world and to have our voice heard by thousands, if not millions of people. The people with whom we connect online have forever changed our behavior as consumers. And brands know that social media has the ability to impact sales and awareness of their products.
Recognizing this power, we formed our Smiley360 community. The Smiley community was dedicated to delivering interesting and unique brand experiences to members and enabling them to share feedback with friends. Our community was purpose-built with social media at the forefront, and we designed our technology platform to make it easy for people to share.
Conversely, Smiley offered marketers an outlet to get their products in the hands of real people who were willing to share about brands to others. Through Smiley, brand marketers were able to harness the consumer voice and generate conversation about their products. Fast forward to today, the Smiley community is 550,000 strong and has experienced more than 150 brands and generated more than one million posts on social media collectively.
